Saving the earth was one of Tomaso’s many passions. He wanted to see the The Green New Deal implemented into legislation to insure an intact world for at least the next seven generations. As the Trump Administration lifted environmental protections, one by one, Tomaso lost hope the earth could be saved.
As I watch Joe Biden come into his own, the elder statesman he is, I know hope is on the rise. As Biden sees job creation arising from his own climate platform, I see our kids and grandkids swimming in clean oceans and rivers, free of contamination, free to breathe unpolluted air- air that purifies the blood, lungs and lymph.
Together, Tomaso and I enjoyed the simple joy of Star gazing, kept up to date on planets to watch for, lunar and solar eclipses, meteor shower and many other galactic happenings.
The night sky continues to offer miraculous shows for my physical and spiritual eye. Most recently, Mars is prominent and at dusk, rises red upon the horizon.
Walking out under the night sky expands vision and memory of all the times we felt small compared to the awesome expanse of the universe.
As we know, pollution and bright artificial lights render star gazing a lost art, for the majority of us.
As we age, we may become desensitized to all that is possible. Our enthusiasm for such things is replaced by the reality of our own mortality, with or without a life threatening diagnosis.
Death boils down to Love. All the great sages tell us so. As long as we align our gaze to our Divine Creator, the stars give way to an eternal light unequaled in this or any other life time. OM
